How Students Get To High School

Most students at Paly and Gunn bike or walk to school.

Here are some of their reasons:

  • “It’s FASTER than driving.”
  • Flexibility to come and go when I want.”
  • “I’m not tied to my parents’ car or a bus schedule.”
  • “It’s FUN to bike with my friends!”
  • “Healthy for the planet and me.”

That means that on a typical day, hundreds and hundreds of students are biking to school. This might be you.
And, if not we will cover other ways to get to school later in the course.

Having so many students actively getting themselves to school didn’t just happen on its own.
For more than 50 years Palo Alto students, parents, the school district, and the Office of Transportation have worked in partnership to support school commute safety.
