Avoid the Door Zone

The “door zone” is the 5 feet of space that an open car door extends away from the car. If you were riding in the door zone you could be hit when a driver opens their door. Watch how this person rides safely outside the door zone.

This simple practice can help make sure you don’t accidentally door someone else by opening a car door on them. It’s called the “Dutch reach” and you can do it anytime you are a passenger in a car.
