As you found above, the law in California requires that has a white front light, red rear reflectors, and side reflectors. These help car drivers see you and figure out you are riding a bike when it’s dark or difficult to see outside.

When it comes to bike size, remember that when standing flat-footed, you need to clear the top bar or if you’re a confident biker, you can reach the ground with your tippy-toes instead of with your feet flat on the ground.
